Today we went on our first road trip. We drove to Haworth (about 1.5 hours from Manchester) to see the home of the Bronte sisters. The Bronte Parsonage Museum is housed in the actual house that the Brontës lived in. Most of the rooms are recreated as they would have been during the Brontës time. In addition, there is an exhibition space where they show loads of Bronte memorabilia such as letters, drawings and embroidery. It was amazing to be in the same rooms the Brontës actually lived and wrote in. It was a definite bucket list item for me.
After visiting the museum, we had a good look at Haworth Village. It is picture perfect with narrow streets and traditional stone buildings. To top off the day, we found a cafe that served gluten free baguettes with Yorkshire ham and Wensleydale cheese. We sat outside in the sun, looking down the main street of Haworth as we enjoyed our lunch. Great day.
