We left Dublin this morning en route for Cork. We stopped for lunch in Kilkenny. Such a lovely town. We sat by the river eating. Afterwards, we had a look at the shops. We met a wise shop keeper who did me a good deal on 23 souvenirs for my students. Then, we did a tour of Kilkenny Castle. It has been beautifully restored to the way it looked in the 19th century. It was a nice way to break the journey.
We are staying in Gabriel's Guesthouse high on the hill above Cork. It is very nice despite the four flights of stairs to our room. We took a walk around Cork tonight. I had to visit Oliver Plunkett Street and the building next to the GPO where Mum grew up. Dinner at The Oliver Plunkett then a walk back to our guesthouse.
