Incredible day in Edinburgh

We have just come home after a big, big day in Edinburgh. First up, the Castle. I can't speak more highly of Edinburgh Castle as an attraction. It is so impressive up there on the rock dominating the Edinburgh skyline. Inside, it has been preserved so authentically. I particularly loved seeing Mary, Queen of Scots rooms and the Scottish Crown Jewels. Fantastic morning.

After we finished at the Castle, we wandered down the Royal Mile. The weather was lovely and there were lots of people around but it wasn't too crowded. Easy to get around. After lunch in a cafe on the Royal Mile, we got on the Hop On, Hop Off bus for a really good look at the city. Each of us made our mental checklist of things we wanted to see.

Next, Clare headed off to Camera Obscura while Ian and I found an old fashioned bar for a drink. When we met up again we took a leisurely stroll through the city to the National Gallery of Scotland for a look at some European masters.

Edinburgh has an amazingly cool vibe. There are buskers all over the city, so many great outdoor bars and restaurants and, with the sun shining today, the city was glorious.
