Last day in Scotland

We had planned to drive to St Andrews today, but after our mega driving day yesterday, we all agreed to spend our last day in Edinburgh instead. This morning, Ian and I visited The Georgian House. The house is in Charlotte Square in the gorgeous New Town part of Edinburgh. It is set up exactly as it would have been in 1810. Georgian decoration is so beautiful, all light and comfortable. It is a delightful house.

After the house, we went for a walk through the lovely shopping streets in the New Town. We were on the hunt for a small suitcase (to store all the souvenirs we have bought). It was shorts and t-shirt weather in Edinburgh today and there was nothing nicer than strolling the streets in the sun looking at the fantastic Georgian architecture.

For our last adventure, the three of us did the walk up to Arthur's Seat, the huge hill that looms above Edinburgh at the Holyrood end of town. It is a challenging but manageable walk with amazing views of Edinburgh from the top. On the last part of the descent, I rolled my ankle and took an awkward (and, no doubt, ungainly) fall. I have a sizeable lump on my right ankle and a graze on my left shin but, thankfully, no lasting damage. It was a timely reminder that we might need a few days off from the mega walks we have done for almost every day we have been in the UK.

Tomorrow, we fly to Dublin for the next part of our adventure. Scotland has been really memorable. Edinburgh is a great city. So much to see and do and such a great vibe. We were lucky to have fantastic weather for our week here. We leave Scotland and the UK with the best memories.
