Big family day in Cork

We have had a fantastic day in Cork. After a beautiful breakfast at our guesthouse, we got on the Hop On, Hop Off bus around Cork. I kept looking for places that I might remember from childhood but I didn't really see any. I recognise the River Lee and I know the house in the city that Mum grew up in but the rest of Cork doesn't trigger any memories. No doubt it has changed a lot in the 48 years since we left.

In the afternoon, we went out to Bishopstown to see my aunt Carmel. She has just celebrated her 90th birthday and is in pretty good health. Her mind is sharp as a tack and her memory is just as good. We had a lovely hour with her.

This evening we went out to my cousin David's house for dinner. My other cousins, Tracey and Paula were there along with David's wife, Katherine and his daughter, Sophie. Paula's husband Luke also joined us. Katherine cooked up a storm and we had the best meal we have had since arriving in Europe. The conversation flowed and we all had a great night. One I won't forget.
